Combining Advantages of Specialized Simulation Tools and Modelica Models using Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI)

چکیده
In power plant applications, detailed transient analysis of the evaporator results in very large fluid systems, i.e. the model consists of many equations. This is because the evaporator has many tubes and the spatial discretization has to be quite fine in order to appropriately model transient evaporation processes. In such cases, due to performance and workflow reasons, we use a specialized in-house tool Dynaplant [1]. Coupling between Dynaplant and a Modelicasimulator helps to benefit in addition from the possibility of rapid development of new components in Modelica. Here, it is shown, how the Functional Mock-up Unit (FMU) export from a Modelica model can be used to perform a co-simulation with Dynaplant and an FMU simulator. The FMU is defined via the Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI) for Model Exchange v1.0 [2]. Advantages but also restrictions and challenges are covered.

A Generic FMU Interface for Modelica
This paper discusses technical issues and implementation of a generic interface to import a Functional Mock-up Unit (FMU) into Modelica simulators, specifically the OpenModelica environment. Whereas other approaches for importing the FMUs rely on functionality specific to the simulator environment, this approach tries to provide a generic Modelica interface for embedding an FMU to be imported i...
متن کاملDistributed System Simulation Methods : For Model-Based Product Development
With the current trend towards multi-core processors and computer grids, parallelism in system simulation is becoming inevitable. Performing multiple tasks concurrently can save both time and money. However, this also puts higher demands on simulation software. This thesis investigates how simulation-based product development can benefit from distributed simulation. One parallelization method i...

This paper presents a generic interface which enables exploiting the multi-physics modeling capabilities of Modelica within the virtual test drive simulator CarMaker [1] using the Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI) [2]. Applications ranging from detailed studies of vehicle properties to hardware in the loop test-rigs require models of different complexity. CarMaker is provided an interface whic...
متن کاملPde Modeling with Modelica via Fmi Import of Hiflow3 C++ Components with Parallel Multi-core Simulations
The Modelica modeling and simulation language is widely used in academia and industry to model complex, coupled dynamic systems which can be described by systems of ordinary differential equations (ODE) or differential algebraic equations (DAE). Recent work by the authors showed a way to enable partial differential equation (PDE) modeling with Modelica via functional mock-up interface (FMI) imp...
